I know you're all tired of V35 questions...

Ok, I know most of you are getting tired of V35 Skyline questions. But I more want to make sure of everything. When I browse the different threads, everything is very spread out and unorganized. So I want to make sure that what I know is the truth.

-It is based on the USDM Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe/ Sedan

-It is not called the R35, rather the V35

-It used to be called R32, R33, and R34 because it used an RB engine, now it's called V35 because of the VQ engine

-It uses the same 280/ 260 horsepower 3.5 DOHC V6 of the G35

-In a few years, there will be a GT-R V35, with AWD, and a twin-turbo VQ35DETT, producing 400 horsepower.

If any of you could point out if I am wrong with any of these, please do.

Thanks in advance,

-Chris

1. The V35 Skyline sedan is basically the G35 Sedan. There is different badging, trim levels, and a couple different drivetrain choices(smaller engines and awd in Japan), but that's it. The same goes for the Skyline Coupe and G35 Coupe.

2. We don't know whether the GT-R will be called the V35 or not. My personal theory on this is that due to the rumor about the Skyline and GT-R names being separated, the new 'V' designation was created for the Skyline, while the 'R' designation will remain for the GT-R.

3. The 'R' chassis designation had nothing to do with the engine. Some of the R31 Skylines for example, used a CA18 4-banger, iirc. Look at the progression of the Z cars for more examples. The Z31 and Z32 both used VG motors, but the new Z33 uses the VQ motor. No change.

4. The top level V35 Skyline uses the VQ35DE engine from the G35, and is rated at '276hp.' There are also VQ25DE variants as well.

5. The next GT-R could show up as early as 2005. Powerplants are unknown at this point. Rumors and speculation point to anything from a VQ33DETT or VQ35DETT, an NA VKxxDE(Infiniti's V8) for the US market, or even a VKxxDETT.

And a suggestion. Someone please, for the love of god, make this thread sticky, and don't allow any other threads speculating about the next GTR.

Please.

Maybe some of that day you've been heremight have been used in checking who the moderators are. That would include Razor. He moderates this forum. His job is to stopthe whingeing and bitching that tends to plague this forum. (For a good example, see your own post.)

The Vq35dett is stronger probability for now.

The engine will be tuned by cosworth.
The suspensions and chasis will be tuned by lotus.

Nissan is trying to keep this car under 60K

Still arguing if this is going to carry either Nissan or Infiniti badge.

The name will probably simply called "GTR," not "Skyline GTR," though in japan I'm sure they are skyline GTR anyways, but for markets outside Japan at least.

From japanese magazines...

Re: I know you're all tired of V35 questions...

So, the bottom line is, the awesome dynasty of the Nissan Skyline R30-R34 is over? I mean without the RB26, the Skyline won't be as good. Yeah there are better engines out there, but the Skyline got famous with the RB's. (RB25 and RB26) Yeah, it'll the the name Skyline, but will it truly be one? I mean the Silvia got famous with the SR engine, the RX-7 hit big with the twin rotary(Which i am still having trouble finding out how that damn thing works.) And, although not a top name sports car, the Sebring is a well known eco car. Same with the Civic.(was made to be a family car, but a bunch of "Rice Boys" got bored) So what's a Skyline without an RB?

The Skyline is still a Skyline, a family of sporty/luxurious sedans and coupes. The GT-R just happens to be the performance model. Not all R-chassis Skylines had an RB, either. Some R30s used the CA18 4cyl.

Was the Skyline famous as an R30 or 31? no, it went big as R32 and up. which all had RB's.

The R30 also used the FJ20DET.

True Skyline connesuirs(sp?) will also know that the KPGC10, KPGC110, and C110 Skylines from the late 60s/early 70s were considered the best handling Skylines ever, including the R32-R34. They used 2.0L Straight six engines with ITBs and mechanical fuel injection.

The only reason you think the R32-R34 Skylines are the best is because thats all you hear about. Oh no, its not in ImportTuner, or GT3 so it cant be good.

Did you know that the R31 GTS-R, with a 2.0L engine is still as quick as an R32 GTR.

The GTR made the R32+ line what it was- the RB had nothing to do with it- the other half that made the R32+ big was Gran Turismo- without Gran Turismo or the GTR- then the Skyline'd just be another whacky-domestic Japanese car............

Unhappy

I was very disheartend when I heard the news that the skyline would be no more and the GT-R concept may be the replacement. I did not want to fathom that this euro...thing was a nissan. What was more of a shock was that they replace the most popular Japanes car ever. If they do come in 2007 than want nothing to do with it. please help me understand what is going to happen.

What are you talking about? The Skyline still exists. In Japan, you can buy it as a 217hp VQ25-powered 250GT sedan, '276hp' VQ35-powered 350GT sedan, and both are available with ATESSA-ETS. There is also a 350GT Skyline coupe. In the US, the Skyline is sold as the G35 sedan and G35 coupe. Specs for the MY 2007 GT-R variant are yet to be announced.

Deal with it. Cars get replaced and improved on. The V35 Skyline is an improvement on the R34 model in almost every way. Customers and the press love it. If you had an open mind and could afford one, you probably would too.

Even if you can buy a GT-R and decide not to, Nissan will find plenty of other buyers.
