98 Camaro V6
CAMARO
Hey guys ...i have a 98 v6 red camaro... I have a k/n air filter...I cut out the bottom of my air box lid..i have flows on it as well..other than that ...oh yeah - i have 245 50 kumho ecstas all around (good tires)-- i was wanting to add some more power to my machine and was wanting to know if any of you camaro lovers had any suggestions for me... i had tried this so called performance module and it bogged me down and was promptly removed-- i have delco platinum plugs and new wires as well...keep my oil changed frequently.... just want a little more power...

Re: 98 Camaro V6
which module did you use, cause i put the jet PCM in mine and it works gloriously. also, get yourself a set of headers and thatll up your pony output quite a bit.

When you used the performance module...did you still fill up with regular unleaded? You need to run premium grade gas to see the benefit, otherwise it will cause problems. The tried and true method of increasing performance without increasing compression or displacement is with forced air induction. Ram air, turbocharging, or supercharging. Supercharging is probably your best bet. Get one off of a junked GTP or something.

module
it was something i got off of ebay --- it was some type of resistor that went to the o2 sensor that was supposed to make it look like more air was passing through than really was--- i also got shittier gas mileage as well -- are those tornado things any good by the way ? i was wondering

Re: 98 Camaro V6
WARNING..... you can not use a supercharger from a GTP, engines are compleatly different, not only do they have different compression ratios, but they also have different cranks, and pistons, they do make a nice paxton for that car i think, or is it an eaton, wll, anyway, one of thoes company makes one, i have seen it, lol, but, the k/n filtercharger is a rally good upgrade, we put one on a friend of mines old 3.4 and it tore up a 3.8, and beat my old factory freak Z24 cavalier, and ya, thoes tornado things do work, a friend of mine had one on his grand prix, and it did help it alot

Re: 98 Camaro V6
depends on how much loot you wanna kill. exhaust including headers will add power. you get actual cold air intake and that helps. i believe its vortec that makes a wicked supercharger kit for the 3.8 v6...

Re: 98 Camaro V6
Well for more bolt with out tearing your engine out you should get headers a lot of 3" pipe a highflow cat and a good catback system. Get your intake and heads ported, and a larger throttle body with one of them tornado things. Get one of them programable performance things you plug into your diognostic port, and a lower temp thermostat, if that's not enough get an LS1.

Re: 98 Camaro V6
I'm going to paste my reply from another thread:
Start with a catback. I got my hands on an almost new 02' Z28 catback for under $100. Installed for $150 from a good muffler shop. High-flow cat is good, but realize our stock cats are not bad flow-wise. Next up is the intake. I'm about to order a Wisper Lid and K&N filter. Will run about $185. Then, it's gears and limited-slip. I'd get 3.73's unless you have to get 4.10's. This is a bit expensive. It is about $100 for the limited-slip, and $250 for the gears, new. It will be about $500 for the limited-slip, gears and installation together. Make sure you choose the right gears to buy, aka GM/MOTIVE gears, and have them installed by a good installer who has done many gear installs. All of these mods will cut 2/3 tenths from your 1/4th time. A good source is www.firebirdv6.com\ Happy modding.

Explain to me how (with a little modifications) a blower wouldn't work. Is it the wrong kind of air? Forced air is forced air no matter what it comes from. You can always get part A to work with engine B with a little knowledge and fabrication.
