My Girls 2002 Jetta has been acting up. The thermostat light will blink and not stop when first started. This is not something that happens all the time. Just every now and then. The engine is cold, not hot, and the thermostat gauge is showing a clold engine. I did not belive her untill is did it with me. I stoped and restarted the engine and that took care of it the first time, but the second time it did not cure my blink light. The dealership looked at it, but found nothing. Does not seem to be a problem once the engine warms up. Should I insist the Sending unit be replaced???? The gauge works fine, it just that darn light, and a beep noice every min or so. Anyone run into this before, or have a thread for me to refer to???

coolant temperature sensor
Check the coolant temperature sensor located on the gooseneck that connects the coolant to the engine. I had the same problem with my 89 jetta and replaced that part. It worked fine.
