Oil pressure light blinks at a stop

I have a 1994 VW Golf GL 3 2.0L and I have 2 things wrong. First, my engine light comes on and off sometimes when I'm driving. Second, the engine oil light blinks whenever I come to a stop and the engine will idle low and then kick back up again. In order for it to stop, I put the car in neutral and that will stop the idle to go back to normal but as soon as I put in drive, the oil light blinks again. I swear my car is possessed. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what is wrong with it. I love that car, but sometimes I curse it when it acts up. Thanks in advance.

Oil pressure lights = low oil.....? Check your fluid levels first of all. If your rpms are a little shaky, you can check your vacuum lines yourself (no cost ). If you're not getting the gas mileage you should, your o2 sensor might be out, have someone pull the code for you and check it out. Getting codes pulled is inexpensive and easy. Hope this helps..

"My car won't start, what should I do?"
"Did you check your headlight fluid?" <<LOL, I love it.

Oil pressure switches are a common problem for those vehicles. There is one on the driver side of the cylinder head and one on the oil cooler where the oil filter goes on. There about 10.00 each and are pretty simple to replace.

ALso oil pumps are a common failure at about 100-110,000 miles.
