Crank pulley removal

My book says once the crankshaft bolt is removed the pulley can be removed by hand. Thats not happening. Should I try a gear puller, or there are three threaded holes I can get to threw the pulley and maybe get a steering wheel puller attached to. They look like part of the dampener. Already tried some heat to lossen it. thanks for any help!!

I removed mine by tapping a 1/2 inch pipe thread in the center hole. I made a puller out of a 1\2 inch pipe plug & a 1\2 inch threaded bolt.

Re: Crank pulley removal

Or, you could be like me, and pay $150 for a mechanic to replace it.

sounds like you were trying to remove the balancer.Your lucky, those are metric thread, M6 I believe - which is .24 inch X .8 pitch, you might have smoked the threads if you went in too far.

Re: Crank pulley removal

You can also use a 2 prong gear puller to remove the crank shaft pulley. With the center bolt loose, but not out, use the 2 prong gear puller. It will pop loose, then finish removing the center bolt.
