95 esi crank pulley removal

I have a 95 ESI that appears to have jumped time, after spending 4 hours trying to remove the crank pulley, i have decided it is time to ask the experts! The alt. and ps belts are off, the center bolt is off but i cannot pull the pulley/hub off of the crank. The chilton manual shows using a puller on pre 95s but gives no instructions on 95s. I installed the puller against the loosened center bolt but it will not budge? what am I doing wrong? Thanks! Clancy

Underdrive pulleys usually have 4 bolts, are you sure its the right one or your not missing any? When I did mine I had to turn it to get to the other couple bolts

sorry, would have been a good idea but the pulley and balancer are all in one on this engine! no bolts holding the pulleys other than the center bolt holding the whole thing!

from what i know about the 420a you need the 3 jaw puller and some muscle, id advise not trying to pry it off. as my old mechanic is about to find out the hard way in court

Re: 95 esi crank pulley removal

good news! its off! drilled holes in the hub, heated it with a torch and pulled it a two jaw puller from the outside untill the pulleys separated from the hub and then pulled the hub! toasted the timing cover but got it off! Thanks!

Re: 95 esi crank pulley removal

you're going to need a new one crank pulley now. usually you unscrew the bolt half way and then use the 3-jaw puller to break it loose. if you think it's hard to get off, it's about 10x harder to get on. take some emery cloth and polish up the crank end and it goes on a little easier.
