Exhaust Tips
I'm thinking about getting exhaust tips for my 98 GP GT. Do they increase performance or make the exhaust louder? If so, can someone suggest some good ones

Re: Exhaust Tips
Not really a hard question....just a useless question. Sorry..but that's my opinion.
NO, tips don't increase performance. YES, tips do have an influence on sound. Borla seems to have the best tips out there, but they are pricey. www.borla.com

Hedman makes some nice looking dual outlet (rolled outlets, angle cut) stainless steel tips. Check them out at www.pfyc.com . They are by far the best priced stainless tips I have found so far, plus they look pretty good on a Pontiac (they show them on a GP). If you have stock exhaust, you will have to pick up step-up adapters to fit them to the smaller diameter muffler outlets. I am going to order a pair soon.
BTW: I think the benefit is strictly cosmetic unless you buy resonator tips. They are made like little glass packs, and will cut down the volume a bit. Jim F |

tips can make a difference in sound if you get them with resonators. These are used for aftermarket systems that are loud. Using resonated tips will dim it a few notches.
