1992 Eddie Bauer power window problem

Have a 1992 Eddie Bauer with power window package. The driver side works fine but the passenger side (both front and rear, ironically) will neither go up or down. I took the panel off but Ford makes it almost impossible, for real, for the average consumer to "fix it themselves". Now, here's my question...the motor works (on the door) because with a little coaxing, the window will go up and down. The cable seems in tact(Not loosed or anything). So, can anybody out there give me any insight, and maybe a trick to getting to the problem (the area in which to work is ridiculous...no doubt Ford did this on purpose so that one will have to bring it to them to fix!)? Perhaps a diagram or somthing? Anything will do! Thank's a bunch and God bless you all.

Similiar Issue

I had a similar issue with my wifes car. As crazy as it may seem, there is a small black strip around the frame of the door that your window slides up against when going up and down. My wifes window was getting stuck on the outter side of the black strip. Causing her to have to push up on the window in order for it to roll up. You might wanna check.

Re: 1992 Eddie Bauer power window problem

I am working on that issue myself. From what I understand there are plastic gears in the motor. I assume you can here it trying to go up and all you have to do is give alittle push and help it along. I was told you can replace the gears with metal ones. I plan to do that or replace the entire motor. There are two bolts that hold it in. One above the speaker and one below. I will let you know what I figure out unless you do it first.

Angry Failure!

i tried the two bolts that are slightly inset that are connected to the motor but no luck. I was told by one person that you had to remove the entire window unit and drill out the rivits to get the motor out. I was told by someone else that you can remove the two bolts as above and one in the back. You need a mirror to see inside the door panel. Then you can pry the motor out.
Ah, yeah right.
Anyone really know what the hell to do?

Talking My window works!!!

If you still need help on this let me know. I was able to fix mine and I have some short cuts to save time. You may need a part that is about $25 at advance auto parts. The window motor gear kit. This is vey easy to install.
Total time is around an hour if you have everything you need.
Flat head and philips screw driver. socket set. Drill and bits(this will make it easier) Some sticky stuff (form-a-gasket or something like that). This will make it easier to hold the bolts in the socket horizontaly so they don't fall evey time you try to put them in.
1) Remove the door panel of course.
2) You need to remove the bolts that hold the motor from the front. They are two 5/16 gold color bolts inset in the panel.
3) you need to drill out the hole for the next bolt. To the left of the two you just removed there is a small indention. this where the other bolt is. (how nice of ford to hide it for us) You will need a bit about the size of the other two holes. Drill it out (a little something for the raw metal may not be a bad Idea before you close it all up so it doesn't rust latter).
4) remove the bolt and pull out the motor from the back. (Now, be carefull! Be sure you window is secure and doesn't just slide down. I shouldn't but you never know.)
If you need help with the motor let me know. Good Luck!

Smile Re: 1992 Eddie Bauer power window problem

Thank you, Thank you.
I was just outside trying to get the motor off. I got the two bolts out but could not see or figure out what was still holding it in. Thanks much for the info on drilling out the metal. I will do that in the next day or so when I have time. Note you can now get the grear and or the plastic bushings from Ebay for about 6-13 bucks a side including ship.
