Help with stock driving lights

I guess nothing is simple anymore. Instead of a few switches my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee has some type of electronic controller. The problem is that the switch for the Driving lights does not seem to be working (the little green light does not go on). Has anyone had this problem? The fuse, and relay at the fuse box are good. The price of a new controller is well over $100, maybe I'm just "cheap" but I would rather just put in a seperate $5 switch for the driving lights. Any help on this would sure be appriceated. Please don't count spelling

THANKS
