89 civic 4spd conversion ls swap
I found a 89 civic hatch with the 4spd for 500 dollars so i can have something to race
with but i want to swap an ls motor in it with a 5spd tranny. now heres my question would it take alot of parts to do it like changing a auto to manual or would it be the same since it has clutch and everything there for a manual, so it would bolt up the same and or can you guys tell me what i will need thanks alot you guys are always there to help

Re: 89 civic 4spd conversion ls swap
Do a search, this has been heavily discussed... Basically, here's what you'll need:
Engine Cable B-series tranny OBDZero B-series ECU Motor mount conversion kit B-series shift linkage Axles/Intermediate shaft Rewire for MPFI/Add resistor box. It's a pretty intensive swap, but runs great in the 4th gen. I know several people who have done it and it works fine. There are also several other sites like hondaswap.com or honda-tech.com or hybrid.honda-perf.org where you can get more info... It's been done lots, so you should find plenty of stuff. You'll probably end up spending a couple grand at least on it, after you buy all the little parts and pieces that you need...

you would also need dx/si hubs for the axles to work if i remember correctly.

And obviously you'll need the pedal assembly from a standard Civic also.

Re: Re: 89 civic 4spd conversion ls swap
I've gone cross-eyed.
Maybe my reading skilZ need some catching up on, but is he not needing to convert from the 4 speed auto to a 5 speed LS tranny?!

to answer your questio about a 4 speed to a 5 speed, all you need to do is bolt the 5 speed on and it will work, now for the b18swap thats a different story, but i am sure everyone has given you the info on switchin out the hubs and stuff
