Question Film Antenna

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX-V6. It has one of those antennas that is part of the back window. I had a Kenwood MPV-619 deck installed, and the reception on the radio got worse. I checked the antenna connector, it seems fine. I did read in the Kenwood instructions that there might be some kind of booster amplifier for the film type antenna that I have to connect a wire to. I don't know where this booster amplifier is or if my car even has one. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thats odd, I have a kenwood too, and I drive a 2000 civic with the same kind of antenna, and it works better now. I did all of the installing myself, and I never hooked up something like that. Are you sure that the antenna connector is pushed into the unit all the way?

Re: Film Antenna

Well, I actually had the unit installed in January, but I never took the time to check it out until today. The antenna connector is pushed in all the way. I haven't really had a chance to test the reception since I pulled the deck out today. I tried hooking the antenna control wire from the radio to the power antenna wire on the adapter, but I realized afterwards that the wire harness on the car does not have a wire in that slot, so that obviously was a waste of time. That is when I figured I better get some help. I did unplug and replug the antenna cable though, so I will see tomorrow if it made any difference at all.

The part about the booster amplifier is under the wiring section of the instruction manual. Does yours say anything about that?

nope, nothing about a booster amp, and there's really nowhere to put one at, at least in the civic. And I also checked owners manual to see if it said anything, which it doesnt.
