Antenna Motor Works, But Antenna Doesn't Move
My Antenna on my 1995 Si recently stopped going up and down, but you can still hear the motor running. I looked at it today, but i couldn't figure out how to take it apart after i got the rubber part off. Also, is the part i need the "Antenna Mast"? That's what i heard causes this problem. Thanks for your help.

The antenna mast is the whole power antenna assembly. Unfortunately, they don't sell just the antenna and the plastic cord because that would involve disassembling the motor. Yes, you have to buy the mast, there's no other way to fix it.
To take apart the motor you have to unscrew the seal from the outside. When the antenna is retracted, unscrew the ring that is around the antenna. The metal ring I'm talking about has about 4 slits in it so you can use some pliers to grab and unscrew it. After you unscrew that ring, you have to get into your trunk and remove the upholstery so you can get to the motor and unscrew that. |

Spray some oil into that hole first. My antenna was also stuck when I first got it. You'd hear the motor working and a "click click click" sound. It wasn't lubricated enough and got stuck in there.

Re: Antenna Motor Works, But Antenna Doesn't Move
I'm having the same prob. as AcesHigh. Mine started when COLD weather hit. It does go, almost, all the way up.. but not all the way down. Loud clicks, people think I'm shooting at them (kinda funny) and I get weird looks. What type of lube works without leaving residue?

My antenna also got stuck on my Prelude (the antenna was bent when I bought it). I pulled the antenna up to the desired height and pulled the fuse for the motor. At least, I think I pulled the fuse. It was awhile back.

Re: Antenna Motor Works, But Antenna Doesn't Move
use a lil wd-40 and some steel wool to clean the antenna after you pull it all the way up, then wipe it off and run it up and down a few time... if that doesnt work try spraying just a lil wd-40 on it anf let it run up and down...

the antenna for my 95 snapped off, but the motor still works.
I've got the rip cord and telescoping antenna replacement part but can't get at two things 1) Can't get the 4-notched cap off.. ideas? 2) removed the trunk lining and then the back right brake light group sicne that makes a straight shot to the motor, but can't get the motor assembly loose. Does the entire motor have to be taken out so I can feed the rip cord in? basically i'm stuck. -Joe |
