2003 Eclipse... A few questions

I am thinking about buying one of these cars. I do not know much about cars but I am learning. Can I buy one of these with a turbo in it? If not, can I add a turbo to it? What other mods could I do to this car for it to become really fast? I don't plan on racing it a whole lot but I want it to be hella fast just in case... LOL. Thanks in advance!
Alicia

The 2000+ Eclipses do not come from the factory with a turbo option or trim line. There are a couple of aftermarket turbo kits, but expect them to be in the 3000+ plus range plus installation. Also be aware that when adding an aftermarket turbo kit, this GREATLY increases the chances that the engine will failure prematurely. This is even more true if your not very aware of what you are getting yourself into.

If you are interested in turbo performance from Mitsubishi, I highly recommend having a look at the EVO.

dude its her first car, an evo, yea right. if you want turbo i would recommend a 97-99 eclipse gsx or gs-t, gsx though since its all wheel drive, without that torque steer that a lot of front wheel drive cars have. if you re gonna get the newer eclipse, you can turbo it, but its gonna cost quite a bit, like what paulblack said, 3000+. then you have to build the bottom end of that motor to make it turbo safe, or make it last longer, and that adds even more money. you can do basic mods like intake, exhaust, and headers. it wont give you a lot, but it ll give you noticeable gains. i wouldnt get the 4 cylinder version of it, no power, no speed, so id go with the v6.

I didn't know it was her first car. But if your in the market for a 26-27K Eclipse GTS, it's only a little more for the EVO. Plus, the EVO is no more difficult to own than a late 2G DSM IMHO.

If it is truly a first car, then I agree about getting the late model 2G.

Ok. That sounds like a whole lot of spending money that isn't really necessary. I can flat out buy a car like an MR2 turbo and just add intake exhaust and a boost controller, not spending that much money and still be fast. I'll probably go that route. Thanks for the advice...

you can get a 95-99 eclipse gsx or gst, which comes turbocharged, and do the same thing.

If I wanted him to have my number I would have given it toi him. I have a b/f and don't give out my number. The number on my site is a number for agents to get a hold of me.
