Just Bought A Mitsubishi Eclipse 93, For 400 bucks... got a few questions

So yeah, I used to drive a e30 1985 bmw, got into a wreck with it... really enjoyed it thou.
I saw a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse for sale for 400 bucks, and I had to jump on it, but I have a few questions about it. First thou, here's some pictures:

Engine has 75k on it, chasis with 200 flat. It seems like I'm getting 30 miles to the gallon, what type of gas milage do these 4 banger 2.0 liters make?
Only huge problem with it is the transmission. You can baby it into 2nd gear, but you have to bring the clutch up EXTREMELY slow, and hold the stick in 2nd. What could this be, maybe some of the linkage? I've never delt with a front wheel drive car, so I really would like some help on that. Drove 50 miles home fine thou.
It's got a cold air intake, and some headers, how much are those worth?
Also what's the body kit/wheels/tail lights worth, and is anyone looking to buy some? Oh, its got a pretty big 'fartcan' exaust... what's that whole system worth? I've got the title so I might sell some of the parts off and put stock ones on. How hards it to swap the A/C belt?
Appreciate any help.
Tom

Re: Just Bought A Mitsubishi Eclipse 93, For 400 bucks... got a few questions

lots of questions..

The exhaust you might get 200ish if it's a full exhaust. It depends if someone wants it or not.

The AC belt isn't that hard to change. Make sure timing belt was changed when you hit 60k though.

What model is it Base/GS/GST/GSX? Since you said Cold air I assume it's a GS or base. Since on turbo's they aren't usually refered to as that.

Cold air intake might score you 20-30bucks. Headers I dunno maybe 80-90(That might be low)

Appreciate it. and yeah, it's a GS I believe. Kinda weird having the belts on the side of the engine, as opposed to the front. Guess it's cause it's FWD.

Definatly not a turbo though.

It's because it's fwd which made the determination on the orientation of the engine. All my fwd cars have been like that.

can't see them well. ARe they mitsubishi wheels? If so they look like 3rd gen wheels. What size are they. If they are 17's and you want to get rid of them I'll take them off you hands and leave you with cash in hand instead. (Cash is much lighter)

If you're having to bring the clutch up extremely slow before it grabs then you're looking at installing a new clutch. That's probably why you got it for $400.

Re: Just Bought A Mitsubishi Eclipse 93, For 400 bucks... got a few questions

no unfortunately not. I'm in allentown, PA. If you decide you would want to ship them let me know. I had my last set shipped for about 40-50 dollars (in shipping charges). So if you have a change of heart let me know. I've been looking for 17's from a 3rd generation eclipse in good shape though and if the price is right you never know.

when I decide what i'm going to do with the car, I will. If it is the clutch, why's it only doing it in 2nd? Also, how hards a clutch to replace in these cars? How much would it cost if I went somehwere, and how much would just straight parts cost?

Okay I don't know if it is just me or not but, look at the top picture at the engine. That looks like a 4g63 to me. I have not seen to many n/a 1g engine bays but judging by where the motor is located and the spark plug cover it kinda looks like a 4g63...

I know the motor was swapped 75k ago. don't know anything more than that. So your saying it's not stock, or its the turbo engine minus the turbo?

The 1g 2.0 n/a did in fact come with a 4g63. It's the exact same motor as the 4g63t but without oil squirters, and different internals. The 1g 1.8 n/a is probably the motor you're thinking about that looks completely different.

Dude please just search...... No one here is going to be able to tell you how much a shop near you would charge to replace a clutch. You can look on the internet to find out how much a new clutch would run for it. If you don't know what your doing installing a clutch would be pretty hard (which im assuming is the category you fall in)? but maybe not. It may be a bad 2nd gear syncro too. Just have it checked out, and if you don't want to spend the money to have it checked out, then part it out. Just please search next time before asking 10,000 questions.
