Turbo Question

i am planning on designing my own turbo kit....u think i could just buy a sr20 intercooler kit and make it work for the ka? or will that not work? what about downpipes can i use a sr20 downpipe? oo and do u guys trust stuff off of ebay? i found a REAL nice polished equal length turbo exhaust manifold for the ka....ooo and what about the turbo oil feed and drain lines...where can i source those? thanks for all of your help!

for the turbo oil feed and drain lines my friend goes to a place called NITRO that cuts stuff like that and u bend em at the shop for whatever engine u got. some ebay stuff is ok. but turbo manifolds will probably crack after a couple of months use. try and see i guess.

nearly any intercooler would work, assuming you had the custom mounts and piping. i would just buy a kit for the KA though. ebays things are pretty trustworthy, just so long as you take care to make sure they are legit. if they have alot of crappy feedback, then dont trust em.

No, you can't use an SR20 intercooler kit for the ka-t. The cold pipe doesn't line up correctly. If you mix and match the pieces though, then you can get it to work. Orion over on FA used an S14 SR20DET intercooler kit for his ka-t, but he had to use the cold pipe from an S13 kit. Then he needed a longer coupling to connect it to the throttle body since it was still a couple inches short. So yeah, you can make it work but why go through all that trouble when you can just get custom pipes made? SR20 downpipe won't work. Most of the time when people turbo the KA's, they mount the turbo on top of the manifold rather than under, like SR's. If you just picture that in your head, then you will see that there is no way the downpipe from an sr20 is going to work. Once again, go custom.
