Question Emissions light won't go out?

A friend of mine has a 2000 accord lx. After being filled up at the gas station his emissions light won't go out. The car was off when his tank was filled. According to the owners manual it says that the gas tank cap may not have been turned three clicks and the light should go out after a few times of driving it. He took the cap off, made sure to go three clicks and has driven it several times since then. The emissions light is still on.

Would bad gas cause this, or is there someway to just reset the light?

If it was a loose gas cap it could take a few weeks to reset on its own, it also could be that he topped off the gas TOO much. When the pump stops only round up to the nearest $0.10 not $1.00. Theres only 1 way to find out why its on & that with a scan tool to pull codes. It may be an unrelated problem, who knows besides the computer.

I know what a check engine light is of course, I've just never heard it referred to as an emissions light.
