Progress: 67 Camaro with 63 Vette Engine Conversion

i recently bought the AMT/ERTL 67 Camaro kit. I had a 63 Corvette Stingray engine left over from an old stripped model. so i thought, "why dont i do an engine conversion?" this is the first time im gonna do custom stuff to a model. right now, i'm fixing up the engine to fit. I'm planning to make a super street Drag Car with a supercharger, and racing slicks. BTW...my digicam is pretty old (i think less than 1 megapixel) but i'll try to get pictures up by this weekend.

Re: 67 Camaro with 63 Vette Engine Conversion

Heres a pic of the kit box:

and here's the 63 Vette engine:

Those headers are the camaro drag headers. i have to strip the paint off the block, and repaint it. i think i might keep it "Chevy Orange." ill try to get better pictures from a real digital camera later on. i know the quality is really really bad but this is from a web cam.

heres a pic of the engine bay:

another:

The rims im gonna use:

The engine in the engine bay has the stock camaro oil pan right now. as you can see, thats a problem cuz the engine would be too far back then. im gonna have to put back the 63 oil pan.

Also if you're wondering why i would put the vette engine in the camaro... the 63 Corvette Stingray is arguably the fastest factory production Corvette ever made because it was produced before the strict emissions laws. some will say that the Z-06 is the fastest but the 63 vette is slightly faster.

it is huge...its just that the engine sits to deep in the bay. ill have to fix that so the supercharger and the blower both stick out.

to tell you the truth...its going easier than expected. my major concern will be the suspension (lowering the front, raising the rear), and i might have to cut the rear wheel well cuz the slicks keep getting stuck. ooo and i plan to paint this car semi-gloss black. that and pure white are my only options but i dont think white will do a muscle car justice.

right now im taking apart the block, stripping the paint, sanding everything down, putty everything up, and im gonna have to re-glue everything and re-paint. updates later.

Looking good! I think that White would be a better option, white looks really clean on 1st Gen F-Bodies, but it is up to you. If you need to make that blower stick out of the bonnet make a custom high rise manifold out of styrene sheets or just flat plastic.

well actually, i would paint it white but...
i kinda accidentally messed up the black stripe decals which would go with a white body.
