Hello!
I have some quick newbie questions to ask all you professional modelers out there! I just bought a Tamiya Audi Quattro. When I opened the box, some of the parts were prepainted? Like the chassis and one of the skeletons were painted black. Should I primer those? Also, for you really good people, do you primer all parts? Then take them off the brackets to be sanded? Or do you sand, and then assemble, then paint? Do the places that are to be glued supposed to not be painted? Sorry for the endless flow, I just didn't find these things in the FAQ page. Thanks!

You can sand/primer everything then paint, but I don't. I just do that on the body of the car. I paint all pieces first, then assemble.
Paint everything. Even if it's molded black and you need to paint it black, paint it black. Liquid cement and most model glue eats away paint, so there's no need to paint those areas. |

Also, what is the best way to find a modeling class in my area? The web? What would I search for? Thanks!

Re: Quick Newb Question(s)
Quote:
professionals primer everything- but in my opinion you don't need to do all that for it to look 100% professional. use good paints, no need to primer things you aren't going to really see etc.. but most everything will need primer, you'll be glad you used it when you see the results. it helps w/ sanding out imperfections, paint bonding to model and other stuff. trying to glue parts that have been painted is futile they will not bond well. model glue and model paint don't mix, sand or scrape the paint off parts to be bonded, no 2 ways about it. hope that helps ![]() go to your hobbyshop and they should be able to direct you twards any modeling clubs in the area you live. p.s. welcome!

Thanks for your help, guys! Now, what would be a good color for an Audi Quattro? It should probably be darker, because I used gray primer. Thanks!
