My fuel tank door has been sticking occasionally, but usually after I press the button a few times it would open. But now it won't open at all! It makes a noise like it's going to open, but it doesnt. I have a 2002 GLS Beetle. If you have any idea's or anything that might help me please respond. Thank you so much!

well, try pressing the button while someon holds like a key or sometyhing along those lines in and prying the door open(with light pressure) and see if that works, otherwise stop by the VW dealer and tel em to fix it.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME! my fuel door won't open and I need gas!
I have 2000 GLS and my gas door also got stuck. Unfortunately, this is one of many problems. Somehow all the problems occured after the two year warranty and now after three years, it has only 55,000 km. The door somehow got damaged. I'm not sure how it happened. But instead of getting it fixed and paying $$, the dealer said that they can just take out the auto fuel door release. Now my door now doesn't lock but at least I won't get stranded. I know that this is probably not the solution that you wanted but this is one suggestion.

fuel door stuck
Hello megan, if you will look inside of the right rear trunk you will see the rear taillight access panel (inside of car) open this and reach up toward the fuel door, you will feel a cable for the auto fuel door, pull this cable down and it should open it. you can also take it to the dealer and your mechanic should be able to do the same thing. like they say anything manmade will break!!!! hope this helps.

Fuel Door
Try to have someone push in on the door slightly while fliping the switch. After you get it open lubricate it with a white lithium grease.
