Unhappy 1996 Heater Core

I have a heater core leak, I think. (Smell of coolent when heater first turned on, steams up windows when defrost first put on, slow leak of coolent dripping from firewall near center, and so on.

Is it an easy change, or one of those remove the whole dash and rebuild the car things?

re heater core

Hey Joe, I've also got a 96 grand am. Everything that could've went wrong with this car HAS. It most likely is the heater core there same thing happend to me. It can get really pricey to fix, luckly I know a good mechanic who doesn't mess me around. To fix the heater core i had to drop $400 CND, labour was killer!! Other things that have gone wrong were: water pump went out, alternator had to be changed, a wire connected to my wheel sensor was cut somehow... and it goes on like this. Neways I hope this helped.
