Grand Am damaged in accident, Please read, I need help!
I was just wanting some advice from people that know about mechanics, and Grand Am's.Here's the story ( if ya want to take time to read it ) I was traveling north to my home when traffic suddenly stopped, A car behind the vechicle behind me hit the lady in the Chrysler, and he sent the Chrysler flying into the back of my 2001 Grand Am GT. I was hit about 30-40 mph flat rear impact. The back of the GT's sorda sets up, So it was bumper, exhaust, and curvage of trunk lid damage, Tail lamps were not damage. Well come to find out the vehicle had more damage than what we expected, there are now estimating between $4,500 - $5,000 damage to this vehicle, and i was wanting to know if it's a good idea to keep it. Significant Damage: Gaps in rear doors Gaps in trunk lid, back window moldings Both rear quarterpanels heaved up Floor of trunk heaved up and twisted And the original frame was bent ( they are wanting to cut the back piece out, insert a new piece of frame, and weld it back together ) and they want to paint the back of the car and blend it all in together, hoping the car will fit back into place where it should be. What do you think, on your opinion, Would you accept this car? I have had it 6 weeks before the incident happened, and payed 1 payment on the vehicle. It was a very beautiful car, and I loved it. I am currently looking at other Grand Am's, and most likely will buy another Grand Am GT, If I decide not to keep this one. So my question is - Would you accept it, and is this vehicle safe for the future, my other concern is the damage on the vin number and title, And deduction of retail book value since the vehicle has had extensive damage. Please let me know as soon as possible, I would appreciate it very much. Email - [email protected], If you would like to email me also. Thanks Again!

I know many people driving around "R" title cars and trucks as long as the body shop is a good one I would have no problem in driving it. It would be just as safe as it was before.
On the other hand the car would never be the same, it wouldn't drive and handle the same. If I could dump the car and replace it I would but it depends on how bad of a moey hit it would take.

We looked at it today as they fixed it, Seems it wasn't as bad as what was planned, they put a little piece in on the side, and straightened the left side out, the gapped doors and trunk fit back into place, we reviewed the evaluation, and the car is expect to be 100% completed, and restored. With a regular title, I'm getting the car back, It's not like im gonna have it the rest of my life anyways, ya know? I'm gonna do some cosmetic treatment ( window tint, etc ) but thanks for replying. I'm just waiting another 4-5 days till it gets out of the shop.
