Auto to manual question

I'm looking at a 1990 240sx in great shape.. no major dents (few 3-4 SMALL dings less then a nickel in size) glossy paint CLEAR interior (only thing wrong is the center box things lid needs to be rescrewed) 12xk miles for $2k but its an automatic.. when/if i get it i'll drive it for a while while saving to get all the sr20det swap parts (i can get a great deal on the whole ront clip for $1400, but i'll put a lightened flywheel and good clutch) but i wanna 5 speed =) so i was wondering how hard it is to change to.. from what i'm thinking all you really have to do is first have the parts (should beable to get them off the front clip) then cut the hole for the clutch pedel weld it in run the hydrolic hose and that should just about be it.. but i wanted to know if i'm forgetting something for dont know about something (i have gone from a 2speed to a auto and back in a 280zx)

oh i'v done quite a bit of research about the swap.. and i know that my tach wont work with the sr20det motor (because the cars a 1990 and thers soemthing to do with the cable not being compatable) thats no biggie i can either swap it out for the one in teh clip or run a aftermarket tach..

its possible and should be quite easy other than some minor differences that all autos and manuals have (usually gauge cluster and the shifter area)

takes about 14 hours yourself (or so i heard)

6-8 hours with someone else. if you can do labor yourself and your tranny's going it's worth it....

good luck. yea i def suggest to try to get into that mechanics shop to help you out a lot...

i was just looking at a 1999 nissan maxima. sweet car. good idea i called insurance... they want 2800/6mo and progressive wants 4500/6mo. isn't that complete bs? arg. i think about getting a newer car to save money on maintenance, and this hits me. its because im 18. owell... i guess i will just try to run this 240 into the ground before getting any other kinda car.

mynismo, going with a new car and getting rid of ur old one at 18 is a big no no dude.

ur gonna be royally screwed. just go with a newer nissan 240 or something.

dont get a new car like 1999 or something, its always too much for the average 18 year old.
