A-Holery on the Highway!!!

Sorry, this isnt exactly a race, but I must rant. I was on the highwayon Saturday afternoon just cruisin, me and my girl. Things had been pretty smooth untill traffic slowed to about 40mph. I looked around for WTF the problem was, and there was a State Police Car riding in the right lane doing 40. The cars in the 2 lanes to her left (lady cop) were terrified to go faster than her even though the posted limit was 45! Im never the one to be intimidated by a slow moving patrol car, so I decide to be the bold dumbass to finally pass the cop. I work my way up through the traffic and get ahead of the pack. After getting in front, I sped up to about 50-53. Just 8mph over limit MAX. I looks in my rearview and see the cop move around the slow cars and get behind me with lights flashing. I was fuckin heated!!! WHY??? FOR 8MPH OVER!! However, she couldn't have hit me with the radar, cuz when I got in front, there were cars separating me and her. Unless there is some new radar out that goes through cars

She tells me that it is a construction zone, but THERE IS NO GODDAMN CONSTRUCTION!!!!!! The only construction had been at least a mile back. The express lane had been blocked off, but that was it. No workers, no machines, no dirt and loose gravel...aka...No Construction!

Anyway, she hits me with a ticket for no seat belt on me (I had taken it off less than ten minutes ago to get something from my trunk. my girlfriend had hers on luckily. Then she told me about how the fine for speeding (she never indicated any specific speed that I was going) in the cons. zone is $200+ ticket, blah blah blah. She handed me my $55 seat belt citation and I was on my pissed off way.

Oh BTW, I guess to validate this thread, I did "race" a 2003 Corolla last night. He decided to ride my ass in traffic, so when traffic dispersed, I slowed down to 35, and got next to him. He took off and I dropped to second and chased. I basically had my way with him, he tried tho Another Accord domination of the weak and defenseless. Chalk me up for a "W"

If you are going to pass a cop - make damn sure you don't do it by more then 1 mph faster then they are going. They judge speed based on what their spedometer says. I know traffic cops are among the lowest scum on the planet, but they can fuck with you so don't give them an excuse.

I know, but I figured she wouldn' be able to tell that I was speeding cuz by the time I was officialy over the limit, I was in her lane with a car separating us. Plus, she was just going so damn slow! Oh well.

Dude same type of shit happened to me...but i didn't get pulled over.

I was going down 680 trying to get to San Jose (Cali)....traffic was moving steadily at 75....then suddenly i had to slow down to 55.

There was no body in the left lane so i changed to that lane and sped back up. I go about a mile and see a highway patrol doing 55 in the middle lane right next to me...for no fu$#ing reason...speed limit posted 65...no body dared to past him.

I was getting late so i said fu$# this...i got next to him and sped the fuck up and changed lanes right in front of him doing 65....he couldn't touch me because by law i was doing the right thing while he was causing a traffic jam.

The other thing is that if any cops give you a ticket for speeding...you can ask them for proof...they will have to show you they're radar or else they will say that it's just an estimated guess...take him/her to court and well lets just say...judges don't really believe in estimated guesses.

In Mass a cop is given the right to estimate a speed. If you drive by than can basically guess how fast your going and it will stand it court. The reasoning being the are skilled enough to guess your speed due to seeing it radaring all day. BS huh?

These people put there lives on the line every day for your protection and you have the audacity to cry about getting a ticket when you passed a cop speeding.? What, is there some law saying you can go a certain amount over the limit and they cant stop you? Gees some peopl amaze me

I never said that there was a law saying that they have to show you their radar gun...its just that when you go to court for it the judge usually wants proof...and doesn't like to be bothered about estimations...thats how my dad got away...and he wasn't speeding either..just doing 66-67 in a 65 place.

And 94svt5.0 please don't give me that speech about them putting thier lives on the line....i know that better than others because my cousin is Sheriff for San Jaquin county....and they get paid because of me and u dammit because we pay our my motha fu$kin' taxes aight.

it was in a rich hood, im not used to the stupidest tickets people get in the rich hoods

i got out of the noise violation ticket, he said he got called cause when i pulled up my stereo was too loud

No. There is no law stating that I have a right to surpass the posted speed limit. The sign is obviously there for a reason. BUT I refuse to held a traffic hostage because some jackass state officer decides to go 5 under the limit! My impression from the whole incident was that she decided to come after me becuase I decided to be bold and pass her as well as the rest of the 40mph movers.

Also, where I come from it is generally accepted (not law) that as long as you keep to within 7mph of the limit, you're good. Just dont get crazy with it or start endangering the lives of other people on the road. 90% of the time if you pas a cop on the side of the road clocking traffic and you are doing say 51 in a 45, he won't even bother. They've got bigger fish to fry. Juno whut I mean mayne?

How do you know she was only going 40mph? is your speedo official calibrated as is theirs? Oh so you have 18" wheels? Did you have your speedometer recalibrated after that?

THey have the right to pull you at 1mph over the limit. IN a construction zone, regardles if you see any dudes in orange hats, they will be much stricter then if you had been in a regular speed zone. Many people get killed in construction zones, something like 95% are related to excessive speed.
Dont want a ticket? dont break the law and if you understand that then dont blame the police for doing their job.

you know, I come from a law enforcement family, and I work in corrections, so I deal with cops everyday. Its ignorant comments like that, from ignorant people, that whine about cops day and night, for getting pulled over, for questioning them, but the moment they need a cop, they didn't come fast enough, didn't seem like they wanted to help.
EVERY cop, EVERY day, no matter what situation, puts there life on the line. Even traffic cops. They are out there, getting idiots off the road, stopping drunk drivers. Stopping reckless drivers who have no respect for other drivers. They never know, if the car they walk up to may be the last one. You may not like cops, and you may not like what they do, but show them some damn respect, not only because they deserve it, but because they earned it.
