OEM '96 G20 Panasonic receiver speaker out or line out??

I have a '96 G20 with the OEM Panasonic CD/AM/FM receiver and the OEM Clarion amps/speakers.

Does the receiver have line level out or speaker level out going to the rear Clarion amps?

Trying to add an Alpine amp and Kicker Solobaric 10" to the stock set-up and I am hoping to be able to use a low level converter to run RCA's of the head unit into the amp.

No, not completely sure. If you really want to know check the connections on the back of the head unit.

Well I noticed on eBay that whenever someone is selling one of these OEM Panasonic units, they say your Pathfinder must have pre-amps. It is the same receiver that the Pathfinder for '96 have as well.

I am gonna assume they are line outs, but check them with a multimeter when I have the time.

THX!

Well if they were line outs, wouldn't they be _considerably_ bigger, where you could tell by just looking at them?

Line out, pre-amp, and preouts are just another wording for RCA

Nope. Factory OEM receivers that have seperate amplifiers generally do not have RCA's even if they are line level outputs. My only concern is that the line level out signal of the Panasonic might be a higher level signal that a normal line out. That is why I will opt to install a line level converter just to be on the safe side.

At least most do not. From what I remember the new SE-R Spec-V Fosgate option has a head unit with RCA's, but I could be wrong.

You are thinking about aftermarket receivers with RCA outs. They have completely different standards than OEM.
