Question

My '96 (standard model) suspension seems to be running out of gas and I was wondering what the best non-adjustable shock would be for the stock ride height. I read about using Bilstein's P10 Primera solution but apparently it's vaporware wrt using it on the G20. I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg, either. Would the KYB GR-2 be the best solution for this application? Thanks in advance...

KYB AGXs?

I got the AGXs for my '91 and will be running them with the stock springs. I think they were ~$450. How much less are the non-adjustables?

I think the GR-2's are a direct OEM replacement shock, I think correct me if I'm wrong.

Check www.tirerack.com they have the GR-2's there for about $250.They also have the AGX's there for around $400.

The AGX's are adjustable from Street(soft) to Race(hard). Both shocks should work fine with stock springs or aftermarket lowering springs, but no more than a 1.5 inch drop for the AGX's, they perform their best in between their.

You also might check with www.groupbuycenter.com they have a group buy their ending 4/25/01. The AGX's for the P10's are $370 shipped in the "continental u.s." plus they're dealing with www.coximport.com which is giving it a "limited" lifetime warranty, whatever that means, you should probably call them lol so good luck, let us know how it turns out.

AGX on stock springs

Got in on the group AGX buy (thanks for the heads-up!) - they shipped same day by FedEx and should arrive Monday or Tuesday. Any advice on what setting I should start with? My wife put really numb tires on (Michelin MXV4 Plus - yuck.)

No problem, you got yourself some really good shox, especially for the money. Not 100% positive but from what I've read that on setting 1 the AGX's have about 15% less dampening then stock. It's just a matter of preference. I'd start with 1 all around and work your way up on the stiffness until you get a ride that your comfortable with in terms of ride quality and performance. You probably want the rears a little stiffer to reduce some of that factory understeer. Say 1f/2r and up from their. or whatever you want. good luck
