92 Prelude question
I have a 92 prelude si with 2.3L engine. The car runs great except sometimes on takeoff it almost dies if the rpm's get below about 1500.
I'm teaching my 15 year old son to drive a straight shift and this makes it difficult for him to take off smoothly. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I've allready changed the fuel and air filters and spark plugs, which helped some but not totally cured. Thanks for any advice anyone might give. |

Do you have an aftermarket clutch?

No after market clutch that I know of. This car has 122,000 miles on it. I think I may have located the problem but don't know for sure yet. The front bearing in the distributor was locked up and spinning in the housing creating a lot of fine metal shavings all over the pickup coils. I will have the new one tomorrow and will post if this solves the problem.I didn't mention before that it also had a slight miss now and then when cruising down the hiway.

if all else fails, you might want to check out your throttle body. It might be choking a little bit. does it do this in park, or when you put it in gear? It would do some good to clean it out anyway with 122,000 miles
