4gen prelude question
hey guys, i have a few questions about the prelude. this is regarding the 4gen preludes. in 1995, it said somewhere that the si 4ws got axed. does that mean the si doesnt come with 4ws in 1995? does the vtec come with 4ws? which years did the si not come with 4ws? what is 4ws and what does it do? does any of the preludes come with atts or is that just the type s? i appreciate if you could clarify this for me. thanx in advance

i think youre right.. i have a 95 prelude si but never have i seen 4ws.. did you get your lude yet?? you i'll sell mine to you.. its very similar to the wings west one you got in your sig.

4ws is 4 wheel steering. it doesn't kick in until a certain speed, but it makes it handle hella good. i believe the si comes with it, but i'm not real sure (i don't usually keep up with preludes anymore. sorry) and the si does not have VTEC, only the VTEC model has it (duh) i don't know how peeps always get that messed up. the si has a 2.3L and the VTEC has a 2.2L
good luck gettin your car. before i got my integ, i came really close to gettin a black '95 VTEC, but that never went through

i wasnt asking if the si has vtec. i was only concerned about the 4ws thing. i was asking if the vtec model has the 4ws aswell. i guess it should since its a higher model. i know that vtec comes with vtec and si doesnt. it said on a website that the 1995 si 4ws got axed. i guess that means that the si 4ws model got axed and the si's come with 4ws. im not sure though. and does any of the 4 gen preludes come with atts?

last year to get aws is 95 .. i was looking around at hondaprelude.com

4WS = 4 Wheel Steering, AWS = All Wheel Steering
They both mean the same thing unless of course you have 8 wheels on your car.

4WS
It only came out in the Si Model from 92 on which was electronic 4ws but I am not sure when it finished. I think it only lasted a couple of years, the reason being that for the extra parking ability of the 4ws it didnt add up to the cost of installation and the sales werent there. All it does is ingauge the rear wheels under say 10mph hr to allow for better movement ie (parking) at high speed the rear wheels are locked so there is no better performance than standard. Plus there is more weight.
Atts is only in the 5th gen ludes. but unless you are at the track its not needed. :flash:

10 MPH?
Could it be that the 4WS is engaged full time? I know on the freeway we have bumps in the road caused by the compression brakes on big trucks, and my ass-end skirts around quite a bit because of the 4WS. I don't know if that is because it is on, or because it can turn... Any insight?

4WS is engaged full time. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are going.
