I just got a 1990 legacy L sedan power problem????

I just got this car used last week and it needs a little TLC. The car really likes to run at night but during the day it seems to lose its kick. it's a Auto and lately I have hade to use the manul shifting to get it up to speed If I dont it just takes for ever. It has 160K on it and I have tryed to use a fuel cleaner and done a oil change in this last week. What ideas could you give me to clean up on. the past owner was having problems with what sounds like is vapor lock.
