Question

whenever i start my car, this weird noise comes on for about 5 seconds or so, it also happens whenever i come to a complete stop, like at a stop sign or stoplight...it sortof sounds like an air compressor kicking on

LOL that noise happens in EVERY honda/acura . My family has had 2 hondas so far and each one has done it too when u start up the car . I think it has something to do with the computer on the honda's i'm pretty sure thats it but it's common it's nothing to worry about

It's not a buzzing noise? Because that would be your ABS motor relay. Hmmm... I suspect that as GOD said, it's nothing to worry about, but I am unsure if I hear that in my Integra. Can you describe it in a little more detail?

hey i know EXACTLY what you are talking about! Its a rattling noise that happens usually when the car is idle or when it is first turned on. I'm not sure what it is, but a lot of people lately have been telling me its the heat shield that is the source of the problem.

90% of the time it's the heat sheild. Kinda like a metal on metal rattle noise that buzzes when ya take off? That should be the heat sheild.

I just got my heat shield on my catalytic convertor fixed today. All they have to do is put it up on the lift and clamp the metal heat shield plate to a pipe by the convertor in the front end. Also have them check the shield on the exhaust, b/c that can also rattle. My mechanic told me that if you can't clamp it down then you could just have it removed because its not that important - it only stops you from possibly setting dry leaves, grass, etc. on fire if you park on them with a hot engine.
