Q about installing rear lower tie bar

i have a '97 GS-R, and i'm thinking about buying my friends lower tie bar. my only question is, what parts do i need for the install? my friend showed me where the bar bolts on to, but do i need to buy a new bolt just for that, or can i use the stock one? (my friend doesn't know since she got it put on at a shop)

Just bolts right on, no extra parts needed.

will it really make that much difference if i don't have the longer bolts? will any problems arise from not having the longer bolts?

It sure will if you bolt up the bar and the bolts are not long enough to tighten the arms to the sub frame.

What bar is it?

You wont be able to install if the lower control arm bolts arent long enough, check with who ever made the bar for bolts. Dont use crappy bolts from the hardware store unless its a high grade bolt.

Like said, you shouldn't need longer bolts. Mine didin't require longer ones when I installed it.

High grade bolts would be "Grade 8" and get zinc plated ones, as they are resistant to weather and rust.

thanks to everyone for all your help and info.

one last question, do you think $50 is too much for a slightly used tenzo r tie bar?

Sure $50 sounds ok for a used bar. How much are they new?
