How much freon do I need?

Does anyone know how much freon the system holds on a 00 GP GT? Also how much a/c oil does the system need? I plan on evacuating the whole system and reinstalling Redtek freon, i also have a can of the oil but not sure if i have to put the whole can in?

What makes Redtek better than 134a?
Redtek should have a number for Technical assistance.

I highly suggest that unless you have the proper equipment to do evacuation and reinstall that you take it to a shop and spend the $50 or so to have them do it.

There is no reason to evacuate unless you have to remove the system. Top it off and be done with it.

Then don't evacuate. Top it off and be done with it.

Yes - it's that simple!
Make sure your engine is running with the air cond on high max, and use a proper gauge.

Big Lots - $10 a can for 134a

Re: How much freon do I need?

the compressor is very noisy thats why I thought maybe it needs some oil, and there r no metal shavings down by the compressor clutch

Re: How much freon do I need?

A noisy compressor can be low on oil or getting ready to take a dump.(usually because its been running low on oil). Make sure its not the belt making the noise. Sometimes they'll sound like a rattle snake just before they go! Then sometimes you can put in an ounce or two of oil and prolong them. Use the correct weight oil with the dye tracer in it.
