How much Freon to charge AC system
I have a 1990 Olds 98 3.8 V6 and just replaced the hose that goes from the condenser to the dash because of a leak I caused by accident. Most, if not all of the freon leaked out, so I'm going to vacuum out the remaining and refill it with freon. How many ounces does this system hold?

Re: How much Freon to charge AC system
Thanks for the fast response. I work for a refrigeration distributor and last year we put in MP39 (R401A) which is a drop in replacement for R12 and it worked great until I broke the hose and leaked it out. I was thinking it was 28 ounces but I'm not sure.

Re: How much Freon to charge AC system
This refrigerant I am sure calculates to more or less as an equivalent to r12, you should have that info, there should be a capacity label under the hood, use this to calculate your charge.

Re: How much Freon to charge AC system
For 88-90 models R12 capacity should be 38.50 oz. For 91-93 models 29 oz.
