Exclamation 1997 EGR Problems

I have owned my neon for a couple of years now and now it is starting to have problems when in gear but it idles fine. i took it to a mechanic and he hook a diognostic computer to it and it told him that it had a vacuum problem. i then took it in to my shop at school and i found out that it also had and EGR valve problem. Does anyone know of a direct way to fix this problem?

Re: 1997 EGR Problems

The cheap fix is to pull it, clean it up with a degreaser and reinstall and see if that helps with the sticking issue. 2nd cheapest option is to block it off using a nickel and dime! This will cause your CEL to light up and if you have to pass emissions, then not an option. Last option is to replace it. www.rockauto.com has some on closeout sale for $33.79 for a DOHC one.
