How to Change Spark Plugs 2007 Elantra

This is my "How To" on the spark plugs.

Tools:
-Ratchet 1/2"
-5/8 spark plug socket
-10mil socket
-New spark plugs

Here are the plugs I used

5/8 spark plug socket

This picture shows the plastic cover over top of the engine and where the plugs are. There are 4 bolts that hold the cover to the engine. I've marked where the bolts are with arrows. I used a 10mm socket on these bolts to remove them. Once gone the cover lifts right off.

Now you can see the the plug wires and where the plugs will be.

Here is a pic of removing the plug wire. As you can see the length of the connector is bigger then you would expect (or at least I thought that)

Now take your 5/8's plug socket and begin to remove the plugs. I did one at a time so I didn't mess up any plug wires.

Here's a pic of the old and new side by side... Glad I changed them!!

Now, this is the last plug. You'll have to remove the plug wire from the distributor. Its not long enough to allow for the plug end to come out of the shaft.

As for tightening the new plugs on the box of the new plugs it showed 1/2 to 2/3 turn once snug. I chose 2/3 and didn't have to crank on it(DON'T BREAK THE PLUG!!)
After they're all in, reverse the first steps and you're done.

Any questions?? Just ask

Here's another FYI: REPLACE YOUR CABIN AIR FILTER!! The directions are in the car manuel. I replaced mine after changing the spark plugs.

Here is what my cabin air filter looked like. A new one is all white and won't have bugs in it LOL

Wrong plugs. The 2007 is supposed to have an iridium or double platinum plug in it. The factory Champions you pulled out are a double platinum.

I don't remember getting notified of your reply and thats why its so late...

Although they are supposed to be ir or dbl plat, copper can still be used. I'm not an expert but won't the difference between all of them be in the life span? (2-3 times longer life for ir and plat vs copper)
