Wow. I need $5,000 in small bills and a couple of tickets to a sunny, sandy place.

Talking

Actually, if I could get an answer from someone not a comedian, I would like to hear if there are any tricks to getting to the back 3 plugs. I just bought a 92 Caravan and I think it needs plugs.

I always jack up the front , or drive it up on ramps, and get them from the bottom.

Re: how to change spark plugs on 94 caravan

Engine size???? Makes a difference and to make a pun - different strokes for different folks.

If you have the 3.0 V6:

You should/must use a socket with the rubber insert to grab the spark plug. If the removed spark plug happens to fall down in between the heat shield, you will have all sorts of joy trying to get it out.

You will need a short and medium socket extension.
You may want a universal joint.

Remove the air cleaner box support bracket bolt and remove hoses/wiring harness out of the way.

The back three plugs can be accessed now. Take care that you have a good grip and do not break a plug. Remove them straight out using an extension like a scredriver, so they do not fall into the heat shield. Make sure anti-seize is used when replacing as the heads are aluminum and they will strip. Ensure the replacement plug is firmly held in the socket and start the threads with an extension before you tighten. Number one plug (next to the alternator) will be the bitch. It's tight in there. It takes the right assortment of extension size, universal joint, and ratchet.

Some of the other motor sizes require removal by underneath the car.

I have 4 caravans, 2 with 3.0, one with 3.3, one with 3.8. I have been able to remove the firewall side plugs on all of them from underneath.

Sorry about that, I should have mentioned the engine size. 3.3L, and the rear ones sound like a real pain in the butt to get to.

an easy way , would be to remove the plenum so you can access the plugs in the back very easily... the plenum gasket costs ~ 5.00 $ CAN

I usually just crawl up on the core support and lean over the top of the engine .. I have a 94 with a 3.3l .. and I never have any problems getting the firewall side plugs out this way.
