Can't open my trunk with key or button
I have a 96 SSEI, it has been sitting for one year....I put it back on the road yesterday and done some shopping, and found out the key won't open the trunk so i tried the button on the door and it didn't work either. So how can i get the trunk open, I couldn't find the fuse the the release button.

Do you have keyless entry? tried the transmitter? Also, is there a valet switch in the glove box, is it engaged?
Also check relay center fuse #2 |

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
lets go with the idea that there is no power to the switch and the key lock is rusted so the key wont work so how do I get the trunk open to fix it.

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
Not sure if its in the dash or under the hood, the schematic just call is the "relay center" fuse box cover should call it out as trunk or rear release. Do you have a owners manual? It would show you locations in there. (CRAP, pushed something and changed my font)I know the trunk release switch is on the door, but is there a VALET switch in the glove box?

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
Found it, under right side of dash. you'll see a lot of relays plugged into it, hence "relay center"
You may have to pull the seatback to get to the latch |

No, you need the relay center under the right side of the dash. Your car may not have the Valet option, you would see a switch inside the glove box. Check that fuse.

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
ok i found the relay center on the right side and i checked the fuse and the relay and they are both fine so im going to guess the switch in the door or the one in the trunk dont work. so how can i get it open so i can fix the lock so i can use my key at least.

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
Well, here's the bad news.....I believe there is a switch on the actuator....it's possible that it could be turned in the off position.....if the key won't work, does your rear seat have the passthrough option to the trunk? If it doesn't then the rear seat will have to be removed to get in there and manually open the trunk.....

Re: Can't open my trunk with key or button
ok i got the trunk open so i would like to thank everyone that helped me with it, as a side note this is what i found when i got the trunk opened or should i say remembered.
Last year when i parked the car i must have had the same problem cause the wires to make the switch work was cut so i took the lock completly out and grinded down a screw driver to fit in the hole and viola i can open the trunk. again thanks to all. |
