I have a 1998 Taurus SE. It has a center console shifter. There is supposed to be an indicator in the instrument cluster that shows the currently selected position.
(P R N D 2 1) That area of the instrument cluster is completely dark. I cannot see any indicator at all. I'm hoping that someone can tell me what might be wrong. Is this a bulb? Or, some electronic device? Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Re: Missing shift indicator
I thought the only gear indicator with the console shift in 1998 was next to the shift lever, not in the instrument cluster. It's been awhile since I've owned a 1998 Taurus SHO, but I don't remember any gear indicator in the instrument cluster. Are you sure that display is supposed to work with the console lever rather than just with the column shift lever?

Re: Missing shift indicator
I'm not certain. I see the indicator in the owner's manual. Perhaps that is for the column shift model only?
Can someone who has a 1998 Taurus with a console shifter confirm this? |
