`85 Corvette Convertible in Light Copper/Dark Copper

Not too much to say about this one....just wanted to build something weird. All the fitment issues, and there were alot of them, makes me appreciate how far the hobby has come in the last 25 years.

Thanks lownslow.

By weird I meant that it`s not a typical subject most would want to build, IMO. These were relatively low hp cars (around 240 from memory) and I don`t think many consider this year at all notable for Corvettes.

ahh the late 70s and early 80s vettes were indeed the worst theres one around here for 1500 i think its a 87 but it needs frame work and a lot of TLC

Re: `85 Corvette Convertible in Light Copper/Dark Copper

Excellent job on that kit!

It would be weird if it were called an '85 corvette convertible, though, since the first 'vette convertible since 1975 was officially the 1986 model. Actually quite respectible in performance for its period of release, until replaced by the more potent LT1 and LT5 motor variants.

Specs from Wikipedia on the 1986 model

Introduced: October 3, 1985.
Model-year production: 35,109.
Calendar-year production (U.S.): 28,410.
Model-year sales by U.S. dealers: 35,969.
Styled like the Corvette roadster that would serve as the 1986 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, the new convertible went on sale late in the model year.
The actual Indianapolis 500 Pace Car was Yellow, differing from showroom models only in its special track lights.
Chevrolet considered its "Indy Pace Car" to be synonymous with "open top," so all convertibles were considered Indy Pace Car models.
Special decals were packed in the car, but not installed.
The Corvette was the only street-legal vehi*cle to pace the 500-mile race since the 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Car.
Instead of a conversion by an outside company, as had become the practice for most 1980s ragtops, Corvette's roadster was built by Chevrolet right alongside the coupe.
Problems with cracking of the new aluminum cylinder heads meant the first 1986 models had old cast-iron heads. The difficulties were soon remedied.
It was estimated that the new anti-theft system would require half an hour's work to overcome, which would dissuade thieves who are typically in a hurry.
A total of 6,242 Corvettes had removable roof panels installed and 12,821 came with the ZS1 performance handling package.
Only 6,835 Corvettes carried the MM4 four-speed manual transmission.

Not that weird
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...=1984+corvette

My '84 was only rated at 205hp, but it still beat most 'stangs that tried to run against me...I still wouldn't call it "fast", but I sure loved corners in that thing!!!! I still love C4's
