Arrow 2007 Yukon - squeek/squel as accelerating/reversing

Hello there,

2007 Yukon, 65k miles, just had all brakes/rotors replaced.

When pulling out from my parking spot, both in reverse or forward, there is a squeeling coming from underneath the car. The noise replicates as it moves foward, as in, it's not constant, it only squeeks at certain points in rotation... noise-pause-noise-pause etc...(hope that makes sense). Due to road noise and speed buildup, it's hard to hear at higher speeds, but is definitely there 0-10mph as you pull away. And again, I hear it going forward and backward.

I've heard two different things so far: U joints and/or drive shaft.

Anybody had similar issues or would know what might be the cause of this? I have it scheduled to be looked at, but I like to go in with a little knowledge before I talk to the mechanics. Had hoped it was just the brakes, but it was not (they needed replaced anyway, noise still happening).

I've browsed through the archives and did some searches and didn't find much about this...

Thanks for your input.

Ryan,

I am glad to hear that you are planning to take the vehicle. I can also look into this further. In order to do some more reseach, I will need the VIN for the vehicle. Thank you in advance and keep us posted either way.

Re: 2007 Yukon - squeek/squel as accelerating/reversing

So the dealer I took it to is saying that it is the U joints, rear transfer case, output shaft. They are also saying that this is *not* covered by GM's powertrain warranty. I do not understand that, at all. On GMC's website, it says,

"Transmission/Transaxle/Transfer Case

Case, all internal lubricated parts, torque converter, transfer case, transmission/transaxle mounts, seals, and gaskets."

U joints are listed under "Drive Systems..." But not Transfer case?!

????

I would like to look into this further for you. In order to do more research, I will need some more specific information from you such as your name, address, phone number, current mileage, and the name of the dealership that you are working with. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me either on the thread or via private message. Thank you.

Thank you for offering to help.

Just got off the phone with the dealership. Apparently, he was looking at the wrong screen. It WAS covered by the powertrain warranty and is ready for me to pick up. Thank goodness. Also had the brake fluid and transfer case serviced as part of regular scheduled maintenance.
