Re: Abs light and trac control

Very likely you have a bad hub bearing, it's the most common when having both lights on.

Another possibility is a bad ABS sensor or bad wiring; you'll have to inspect at each wheel to find out.

To test the hub raise each wheel and put your hands at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and move the wheel back and forth if you notice any play you've found the problem.

To test the abs sensors you need to check resistance across each one's terminals, I believe the value should be between 800-1400 ohms (not totally sure about the value).

Oscar.

Re: Abs light and trac control

olopeszm is probably right. Just happened to me a few weeks ago on my '01 GTP. Car would violently shudder when driving. It was a broken wire for the ABS speed sensor at the wheel bearing. The speed sensor is integral to the wheel bearing so you've got to replace the entire bearing. The wire on mine broke very close to where it entered the bearing, too close to solder a repair.

Also, could be the Speed Sensor Harness that attaches to the ABS connector on the wheel bearing. I've heard that those go bad (not sure exactly what goes bad in a wire & connector LOL). I ended up replacing mine as well due to an errant torch flame melting the harness connector when heating a wheel bearing bolt for removal. (Wonder how that happened?) Cost wasn't bad, around $28 online for the harness. Bearing is a little over $100, depending on brand/store. There were 2 designs, one with a "metal clip" and one with a "plastic clip". Make sure you get the right one. Not sure what a shop would charge for a bearing replacement.
