Angry ABS light and trac off light

I own a 1999 Grand Am. Just the other day for no apparent reason, even when I just start the car, before engaging it, the ABS light and trac off light come. I don't know what the problem is. Is there anyone out there that can help me out? Any input would be appreciated. I don't know if this is a serious problem I should be worried about, or if it is not that big of deal.

Re: ABS light and trac off light

Its from a wheel sensor not measuring your reluctor ring signal for your abs system or it could just be a bad connection or blown fuse. I would check your ground connections first and then check to make sure your wheel sensor are connected and do't have any damaged wires.

Re: ABS light and trac off light

I was having front end noises and they guys here helped me out. I was also having the abs light/trac light come off and on. I changed the brake disc pads and then both lights stayed on. The people here told me to check other things and also the wheel hub assembly. It was the hub assembly and I changed both sides on front and the lights both went off. The abs sensor is part of the hub assembly. But make sure you need that first. Because I paid approx. $113.00 per hub assembly.

Re: ABS light and trac off light

I just got done replacing both left and right hub assembly's on my car $167.00 per assembly. This would be the second set for each wheel in two and a half years.

Re: Re: ABS light and trac off light

I bought mine at O'Reillys Auto Parts and I paid $113.00 per assembly. This is the first set for me. It is a 1999 and has 136,000 miles on it. I commute so it gets a lot of miles.
