2001 Rodeo Sport Fuel Sender Question

Has anyone ever just cut an access hole in the body in the rear floor to access and swap out the fuel sender? Rather than dropping the gas tank. I am assuming the sender / fuel pump access hole in the fuel tank is on the top of the tank. I would then simply make a cover that screwed back in place with a little sealant on it. I have not seen the location of the fuel sender on the tank so a photo or view from a parts book would be helpful. Thanks very much. R.

Re: 2001 Rodeo Sport Fuel Sender Question

you would risk cutting the fuel lines and wires.

It will take you about an hour or less to drop the tank.

Re: 2001 Rodeo Sport Fuel Sender Question

Dropped the tank out today. Only 4 bolts and the various hoses. I used the part supplied by the guy on ebay, around $40 and does not include the fuel pump. It worked perfectly. Your assessment was right on. Took about 2 hours total. Thanks. R.

Re: 2001 Rodeo Sport Fuel Sender Question

In the future: with a gas tank having explosive vapors, I have heard you can limit this but dropping in some dry ice. It's solid C02 and as it fumes the C02 naturally would surpress any gas vapors.
