331 pistons?

heres a stupid question but u dont know till ya ask. On a 331 stroker kit I know that the crank is a 3.250 stroke and uses a 5.4 rod but what about the pistons do you have to have special pistons? I know on some kits u do but this is my first 331. thanks

I believe the pistons are specific and the wrist pin is further in the piston. Some of the early designs had oiling problems because the wrist pin was in line with the oil ring. The diameter will all be dependent on the bore of your motor after machining.

HiFlow 50 is correct. The compression distance (pin height) is specific to the stroke.

Ususally, one buys all the necessary rotating parts in "kit" form, so there's no issues. Eagle is the brand of choice for the better "imported" stuff.

If you already have the crank and are looking for pistons, Icon (fka Keith Black) offers three different pistons for this specific application. All good forgings, one is a flat-top, one a "dish" (for lower static compression) and oine is a "bump" (for higher static compression).

Please tell me you bought a FORGED crank and not a "cast" one, right? The Eagle H-beam rod is the rod of choice.
