2001 Cavalier Makes CLicking Noise When TRanny Is Put Into Reverse
Hey guys. I got a friend who has a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier with about 130,000 miles on her car. She has the 4 speed automatic transmission. She noticed that recently her car has been making clicking noises when she puts her car into reverse. The clicking noises happen then her Service Engine Soon light comes on. The car shifts into reverse fine and it backs up fine, all it is right now is a strange clicking noise.
Has anyone heard of this problem before, and maybe can anyone help me out as to what the heck this is? Any help would greatly be appreciated. |

Reading the stored error codes would be a good hint.

Re: 2001 Cavalier Makes CLicking Noise When TRanny Is Put Into Reverse
My sons 01is doing the same thing but is storing no codes. Funny thing is, when he turns the headlights on and puts it in reverse, no noise or light. Only happens with the headlights off. The car has been sitting for over a week while he was away and started doing this when he came back. I told him to check for mice and such gnawing on wiring. Otherwise this is a real head scratcher.
