My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

So i am new at cars, and i just bought a 89 CRX si and there is alot of problems with it yay Its looks good in the Drive way . So since i dont know how to drive Standard yet my Brother in law took it for a Spin and heard it making a Clicking noise when he went around Corners. He thinks it might be the Drive Axel i need help.

And to just make it worst when i First saw the Car it Ran Fine and its Reving high and then running at a very low idle almost stalling , The guy toke off the cold air intake would this have anything to do with it ??

Also my Driver Seat is Seized what do i do about it ??

If anyone could help me that would be great thank you

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

The clicking around corners is your cv axles, next youve gotta figure out which one. The idle could be caused by a few things and youll have to be more specific on that one. And as he asked above, will it not slide, or not tilt. Both are very simple mechanisms.

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

Well the Seat wont Slide back and forth , and we think that the reason its idleing is because the guy took of the hold cold air intake off so there is nothing the not even an air box.
The motor was just put in not to long ago and i think i remenber the guy saying ther e was a turbo on it and he was going to take it off , he didnt say anything about the cold air intake .

My Crx is a 1989 CRX SI , I am going to be using the CRX for car audio mostly but i want do it up nice too

uhhh go out right now and buy an airbox..try ebay if you want a stock one..or go to autozone and buy a cheap ramair. as long as you have a filter itll be better for the car. you could even make yourself one if you want, ive seen ppl use dryer tubing before as a makeshift cold air..

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

+2 on the filter Idea..

You should probably replace both CV axles if one is clicking, it's not like they're all that expensive...

As far as the engine being turbo'd, did you look at it before he took the intake off? if you did, and there wasn't a huge "thing" sitting in front of motor on the exhaust manifold, and a pipe that went from the "thing" to the intake manifold, where the factory air pipe should be, then it wasn't turbo'd... or at least, it wasn't boosting anything if either of those conditions isn't present.

I can't imagine why somone would go through the work to properly install a turbo and then sell the car, removing the turbo and all the components necessary to run the engine correctly under boost... since until now, no honda came with a turbo, at least not in america.. I've heard tell of turbo honda's in japan, and I know there are turbo race engines that honda produces for "race only" application, and aren't available to you and me.

+2 on Replaces both axles

No sense in replacing one to drive around fine and find out the other one is going as well. Just take care of them both at once.

It will probably be easier if you just get you a cheap short ram for it rather than finding an intake box. You might luck out on an intake box if you talk to people who have replaced theirs with a CAI or short ram, but I highly doubt you will find one at a scrap yard. Its one of the first things people go after because car lots don't like CAI or short rams.

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

have someone sit in the back of the car and brace against something, then have them put their feet on the back of the seat, as low as possible, and push really hard against it while you're sitting in the seat with the handle up.

Or, take the seat out, and spray lube on the rails, PB blaster is recommended, and tap them with a light hammer on each side, all the way up it, then tap it on both the ends, back and forth, until you can move it with your hand... this way is not the easiest, but it's the best, and it only takes about an hour... one bolt on each corner, 12mm 6 sided, you may need a funny wobble extension to get at one of them, the rear inside corner, and there is no realignment necessary, just sit the seat in, start all four bolts in, and make sure it's pressed down to the floor... your 60 lb kid brother should make a decent weight to hold it down while you're bolting it in.

happy motoring!

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

mine was stuck, so i did the "get the guy in the back to kick it free" thing, ripped the back of the seat, and got it free. but it was so rusted it barly moved after that. so i went and got new seat rails from the JY for $10. much better idea.

Is it just rusted? or maybe the two locks have disconnected and your only releasing one of them?

if you decide to sell it, let me know, if you're within a day's drive, I'll come look at it... basically, if you're less than 1000 miles away lol.

Re: My CRXs makes clicking Noise when i got around Corners

well how bad is the body? im workin on my hatch swap now and the body on mine isnt in the best condition, but its fixable. you can find a motor to put in that thing..local junkyards, websites, classifieds. look for another d16a6 and put it in there. motor swaps require some research before jumping into it but if you decide to keep it then read up on some tech manuals while youre looking for a motor and then do it with a few buddies that have car knowledge.
