Inline Heater Valve question .. had to cut it off, emergency fix

Is anything bad going to happen?

for the time being (job-sake), I just hack sawed the part off & clamped the heater core (in) hose to the metal T that connects to cooling sys

since its getting cold, figured I wanted to get heater running hotter. water pump has 30k, new bottle, hoses look good, flows good looking into bottle)

From what Ive read on here, sounds like a typical clogged heater core, I dont think its ever been "hot", since I bought it (w/ 108k)

I was trying to squeeze the core hoses to maybe unclog it; however, I

broke the attachment from heater flow valve to the core "in" hose, not sure why they made that half plastic but it was flimsy

the valve didnt look too good in the inside, almost looked stuck 1/2 open & almost deteriorated

for the time being (job-sake), I just hack sawed the part off & clamped the (in) hose to the metal T that connects to cooling sys

in hose gets hot, out hose is lukewarm


Main Question, is anything bad gonna happen from this ??

if i understand, you just by passed the heater control valve??
the hoses are still routed correctly 1 hose in 1 hose coming out
if so no problem with what you did,but still sounds like h/core is clogged
you can try flushing h/core in both directions when you replace the valve
btw what year is the car??

90 cherokee laredo 4.0, 145k (I have no repair history before 108k) I did water pump about 120k

BIG QUESTION
Are the nipples / hose attachments from heater core usually metal or plastic? im almost certain its stock .. hard to tell what its made of, hoping metal

dont wanna bust plastic parts again, when I goto remove the hoses to it

I live in an apartment w/ garage to work in, not sure how to flush it since I dont have access to a garden hose .. still pondering that one .. Im gonna start by removing hoses & checking the ports for blockage

definatly need to fix heater asap .. subzero temps are coming soon, going ice fishin this weekend too

well good luck fishing,i used to but in summer & about 75 miles offshore
anyway i would treat the connectors as plastic, very brittle in cold weather
use a razor knife to cut & peel hose off
mine, a 98 g/motors was but i did'nt no & cracked h/core
not sure about the 90

good to know, thanks .. hindsight can be brutal

just need to get the new hoses to replace (just in case), not much room left to work on shortened hoses, its a tight fit in there

I barely maneuvered the "now" shortened bypassed line to fit in there, & moved other hoses around.. doesnt look stock anymore

just in case, im not sure of your set up & not sure what where you cut
i would'nt say heater core is bad yet until you replace the control valve
& flush system.
