heater valve question
i picked up a heater valve for my 87 307 caprice classic wagon. the one in the car is different though. the new one has a threaded inlet on the top and the old one doesn't. however it doesn't seem like the inlet is even usuable or passes air/fluid. no picture i find shows the part like the old one in the car now. any ideas or knowledge on this?

on the rear of the 307 olds engine passengerside is where this is screwed into the top of the engine..then you have the vacuum line to control the valve...I forget if with or with out vac the valve opens..you should check this first ..before installing. the valve should have a shape thats gonna accept the small hose. also use some heat on the old valve if you need alot of force to remove...usually the diaphram ruptures then the valve stops working/or the vacuum line is defective.. |

i don't know for sure what it was for but it worked. we actually used it to screw it back on. maybe that was it's purpose??

the heat has gone luke warm again. i'm guessing i should check here again. we've got a "heat wave" starting tomorrow. they say it'll be 30 degrees out. i better get to it.

i def need to flush it but the culprit this time was as simple as a low antifreeze level.

Try the local Home Depot, or the hardware store for some plumbing parts!
