96 4 runner rear window and wiper problem
I searched the forum and found only 1 other topic with my same senerio. I'm hoping there might be more information available now. This 96 4 runner's rear wiper and rear window has stopped working. I can only assume they stopped at the same time as the truck doesn't belong to me, I was just asked to see what it would take to fix it. I've looked it over and see no fuse and don't really have a clue where to start looking for the culprit of the problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I work on mainly GM vehicals and don't have alot of Toyota experiance. Thanks for any info.

There is a control module and a fuse for the rear window/wiper/washer.
I think the module is located in the cargo compartment, drivers side. Not sure where the fuse is, but check the interior and engine bay fuse boxes.

Well I found the control module, its located in the rear hatch right under the cover, easily accesable. I found this one was not plugged in good, when wiggled the plug the rear window wiper started working but the rear window still wouldn't operate. After looking at the whole apperatus, I noticed 2 of the 3 mounting bolts that hold the wiper motor in position were out and that let it flop down stopping the window motors travel even it it did work. When I bolted the wiper motor back in place and tried the rear window again from the keyed switch in the back, to my suprise the window operated as it should. I removed the interior switch and checked it the best I could and decided it was working also. I took my test light to see if there was current to the switch connector, again to my surprise when I touched one of the wires the back glass went down I touched another wire and it went up. No power appeard present at the switch. I'm not exactly sure what to make of this discovery. Is there a break in one of the 5 wires that goes to the switch that grounds the system to make it work or is the switch bad, even though I can make the switch in both directions with a volt meter? My buddy came and got the truck and said the key switch was good enough (for the back glass) but I'd still like to know whats up with the inside switch. Any thoughts? Thanks
