Progress -> Tamiya Mustang Cobra

A couple of pix of the progress on the '95 'stang I'm working on. Body has been drying for about 5 days now. Painted with Tamiya TS47 Chrome Yellow. I've been using automotive paints my last few cars and I must Isay notice a big difference using Tamiya sprays (now that I've been 'educated' by AF!! ). I'll probably stick with Tamiya if the colour is close to what I want from now on!!!
Body:

Chasis is mostly done:

Currently working on the engine bay. Scouting around for some good engine reference pix to work off from.

You people are the masters of painting. I've been trying and trying and I still can't get my paint to look that smooth and shiny. I guess I'm better at modelling armor and planes because of all the flat colors and camouflage patterns. Anyway, awesome Cobra, and I hope the one I'm working on now ends up at least half as good as yours.

Me either, in fact I'm rather confused. Looks like the oilpan, headers and tranny are molded to the chassis piece. Chaos can you provide anymore pics to help clear my clouded mind?

BTW- Great work on the chassis detail!

It has a very simplified engine bay but looks alright when assembled. This isn't one of Tamiya's better kits in that the body has a weird shape compared to the real Mustang. The top appears too low and the body too wide or something.

You're right, the Tamiya Mustang is quite inaccurate because they compromised the tool for the convertible (which was tooled first).

The easiest bit to fix is the fact that there's an automatic transmission in place of the manual that is represented in the interior and on the 1:1 car.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Everything apart from the exhaust and suspension is molded into the chasis. Incidentally, this is not one of Tamiya's most accurate kits, as Veyron said. Some of the other inaccuracies - the interior includes electrics such as the a/c, stereo, etc which is supposedly not part of the Cobra.

More pix to come...once the sun comes back up!!
