And what comes to perfection, the original DA isn't the best example. Especially the racing history section has lots of errors that bugs me (I don't know if they are corrected in the LM edition?). But it's also a question of time: as getting the perfect and verified info could take too much time and effort so it has to be limited to certain level and time frame to keep it together.

And I'd say the digital age doesn't make good printed books obsolete, it even makes them more valuable - and maybe the books will come a luxury later when almost everything is digitalized. Even with its errors I find DA almost impossible in being digital and still offer such a captivating experience to read it. Another nice example is that EVO magazines 20th Anni special on F1; still if I want to read it really, I'll grab the printed magazine instead of reading the PDF on the screen. Still nice to have the PDF for quick reference too.
an aside, if it's not already known over here, but...Doug Nye posts over on the autosport forums.

That's where they will all end up and I will certainly share the links here as I upload each set.

I planned to do it last night but family obligations and their desire to force me to celebrate this 36th year of my life got in the way.

Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find a McLaren F1?

Finally....

So of course those were all of my F1 pics in the last set - sorry there could not have been more of those, but the rest of the photos I took on the weekend should be enjoyable for anyone with a passion for automobiles, and I hope that includes everyone here.

Huge thanks to DJ at TeamSpeed.com who arranged the access for this photo shoot for my friend Stephan Bauer through Lynne at McLaren. I ended up tagging along to assist with holding the soft box for Stephan's flash and any other help he might need. In the process was able to take some fairly decent shots myself.

Same story applies here - I have these at 200% of their max Flickr resolution - if you want one for something don't hesitate to ask. I might even forget to include the TeamSpeed watermark when I send them out (...don't tell DJ! )

Let me get to work on some more now.

Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find a McLaren F1?

Just noticed my filenames stop at 1,504 after starting over from zero. Not bad for four days on my feet in a sea of amazing autos with a camera that only takes one shot at a time instead of 3-4 shots like most do. At least 1,400 of them must be good enough to share...

Doing the Gooding pictures now, then I will get started on Concorso Italiano stuff which will include all of my F50 GT1 shots.

After that I have to get ready to go to the Zoo with my brother and my 2.5 yr old nephew. Great fun!!

Gooding & Co 2011 auction

<-- Click!

If you can only make time to attend one of the auctions in Monterey when you go, make it the Gooding Auction. For $40 you can get in the tent to view the cars during the the preview days, and that same entry fee will also get you into the bidders tent when the auction is running - though you might need to stand the entire time, trust me it is worth it!

We saw some impressive cars change hands - Saturday night the 1957 250 Testa Rossa soared to a hammer price of $14.9M ($16.4 w/commission) and then the following night someone else rang up about $10.4M on the beautiful black Duesenberg Model J Long-wheelbase Coupe with a one-off body by Murphy (pictured above) that could not have been more stunning if it tried. Whomever purchased that car got a REAL head turner assuming they will dare to drive it.

Enjoy the pics!

2011 Concorso Italiano at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch

<-- Click!

Concorso Italiano is another long running show during the Monterey weekend. It has had its up and downs over the years but if anyone complained about this year they were out of their minds. This was my first year attending and the show exceeded my expectations. Actually - I did have one issue of nearly losing my rental car in the parking areas, but that is more my fault I guess. All those damn trees and rolling fairways looked the same to me.

You might notice this album is lacking many (if any) photos of the V8 Ferraris (308, 328, 348, 360, 430) or V10 and V12 Lambos (Gallardo, Diablo, Murcielago). It is not that there weren't any in attendance - I just simply wasn't there long enough to take them all in. I do like those cars and would have loved an extra hour or so to shoot them too but I needed to be at the McLaren tent at 12:30pm on Friday and was worried about traffic and parking near Pebble Beach so I left the show with nearly an hour to spare to get somewhere that was about 10-15 miles away. Anyway - I hope you'll forgive me for excluding some of the more normal production Italian masterpieces and simply focusing on the wonderfully special cars that were there (like the BMW's, Porsches, Lotus, Jaguar, and NSX's instead ). There's a little of that anway, and then a whole lot of other special and super rare Italian treats the further you get into it. There's also a rare treat for the Vector fans among us. At least those willing to admit that.

Oh... and there are also a few of photos of the Ferrari F50 GT1 #001 - I mean, just a couple.

We still have lots more to come - probably 400 worthy pics from the Laguna Seca Historics on Saturday morning and then another however many I took during the two days at Pebble Beach. A lot I guess.

Please do enjoy.

I love classic Ferraris, and the picture of the Miuras you posted above is stunning. I can certainly see how you took so many pictures!
